Punta del Chileno

Maldonado, Uruguay

Urban project

Program:
Urban project
Status:
Anteproyecto, 2012
Area:
150 000 m²

The site inherits a subdivision of long lots perpendicular to the coastline, which is reconfigured through parallel strips that succeed in producing the spatial link with the sea and create open areas: parks, and sports and leisure areas.

Both the topography with a natural slope towards the coast and the morphological variety of residential complexes qualify and equip the natural territory. A large free front is proposed, through which one enters the natural park by means of pedestrian walkways.

The strip near to the coast is determined by a series of terraced buildings with oblique fronts that interact with each other and with the topography, framing the scenery. Two curved buildings articulate the complex in a strategic way. Finally, a series of low buildings are located in the forest. The area assigned to the port’s park is proposed as a new public front with a gastronomic promenade, shopping and recreational zone, including hotel and casino.

The scenery is the subject of the project, adapted to multiple scales and adjusted to each area in order to diversify and amplify the delighting experience of the outdoor spaces, aiming at continuity and visual permeability towards the natural park and the creation of strategic landscape landmarks.
