Punta del Este added a new milestone to its real-estate calendar with the groundbreaking of SLS Punta del Este—an event that formally marks the start of a decisive phase for a branded residences development conceived to bring together living, services and curated experiences under a global name. Designed as a celebration of the SLS universe, the gathering featured signature cuisine by Gabriel Oggero, a Michelin-star chef, alongside live music and activations that captured the project’s lifestyle spirit, delivered through a meticulously crafted set-up where every detail was considered.
In this context, the project stands out for its bold, disruptive character: an identity that embraces the hedonism, beauty and vital energy that define Punta del Este, leaning into visual magnetism while fusing the brand’s sophistication with the resort’s relaxed pace of life. Sea, forest and outdoor living are embedded in the proposal’s DNA—an approach intended to amplify the everyday intensity that makes the destination unique.
The centerpiece was an institutional presentation that brought together key voices from the development team and the brand: Alejandro Ginevra, President of GVN Group; Julieta Ginevra, Project Director; Guilherme Césare, VP Business Development, Luxe & Lifestyle Brands at Accor; and Martín Gómez Platero, CEO and Founder of Gómez Platero Arquitectura & Urbanismo, who shared his perspective on the project’s urban value and its contribution to Punta del Este as an international resort destination. Across their remarks, speakers emphasized the development’s singularity, highlighting its value proposition as a branded residential offering—with services, professional operation and international standards—and its potential to elevate the experience of living in the resort.
The event also echoed the current momentum of Uruguay’s premium real-estate segment: Punta del Este continues to consolidate its position as a regional investment destination, driven by demand that prizes design quality, amenities and professional management—and increasingly, the added differentiation of globally recognized brands. In that sense, SLS aligns with a broader international trend: residential developments with hotel DNA, where architecture, service and narrative become integral to the asset.
Team synergy to fine-tune the SLS experience
As part of the groundbreaking, two intensive working sessions were held with the teams responsible for the project’s design and guest experience. Participants included Gómez Platero Arquitectura & Urbanismo—lead for the architectural design—Conway and Partners—responsible for interior design—and representatives from SLS (Accor).
During the sessions, built, full-room mock-ups were reviewed to confirm compliance with brand standards and to discuss project-specific considerations. In parallel, Conway and Partners presented the complete interior design development, reviewing materials, palettes and samples, and aligning design criteria across all stakeholders.
Brand representatives shared guidelines, addressed questions and delved into key aspects of the SLS experience—understood as a proposition that extends beyond the room and the hotel, integrating services, atmosphere and lifestyle. As part of the exchange, Gómez Platero presented a video that conveyed the project’s essence and supported the teams’ collaborative work throughout the process.
With this event, SLS Punta del Este officially moves into construction and establishes a project narrative positioned around experience, identity and standards—bringing operations, design and brand into a single, coherent value promise.
