Located in Punta del Este, Uruguay, Horizon Tower proposes a high-rise residential tower that consolidates a strategic urban node along Av. Roosevelt, one of the city’s main structuring corridors. This axis connects the peninsula, Maldonado, and emerging urban developments, and in recent years has undergone a sustained process of densification and vertical growth, positioning itself as a key frontage for the city’s expansion.
Set on a 4,215.6 sqm site resulting from the consolidation of multiple land parcels, the project occupies a corner lot with high visibility and accessibility. Its proximity to the waterfront promenade and its relationship with the city’s main urban flows reinforce its role as a landmark within a transforming urban fabric, characterized by the coexistence of low-density areas and new vertical developments. The building’s siting frees up the perimeter, incorporates green areas, and establishes a direct relationship with the public realm, contributing to urban continuity and the environmental quality of its surroundings.
The proposal is defined by a slender volume with a curved geometry, conceived as a recognizable element along Av. Roosevelt. Its form responds both to environmental criteria—optimizing views, sunlight exposure, and cross ventilation—and to the pursuit of a distinct architectural identity. The continuity of the terraces creates a horizontal reading that modulates the scale of the building, while the crown emphasizes its presence within the skyline. The dynamic and permeable envelope combines transparency and depth, establishing a dialogue with the coastal landscape and the area’s ongoing urban evolution.
The building is organized around a compact central core that frees the façades, allowing the residential units to extend outward through continuous terraces that expand the living space. This system enhances typological efficiency and spatial quality, creating units with a strong connection to the outdoors and optimal conditions for natural light and ventilation.
The program combines an active ground-level base with commercial uses, intermediate amenity levels, and a residential tower comprising approximately 124 units across one-, two-, and three-bedroom layouts. All units were designed to maintain a strong relationship with the landscape and outdoor living, with generous terraces that can be enjoyed throughout the year.
Horizon Tower incorporates criteria of efficiency and construction rationality, with underground parking and optimized circulation systems. The design strategy prioritizes spatial quality, integration with the natural environment, and the responsible use of resources.
In this sense, the project is positioned as an operation that combines strategic densification, architectural identity, and quality of life, contributing a new point of reference to the consolidation of Av. Roosevelt as one of Punta del Este’s main urban corridors.
