GP at ADI The Real Estate Show 2023

The Mexican Association of Real Estate Developers (Asociación de Desarrolladores Inmobiliarios, ADI) hosted a new edition of its annual event, The Real Estate Show, on May 23 and 24 at the Westin Santa Fe Hotel in Mexico City.

Titled "The Real Estate Sector and Economic Recovery," the 2023 edition of the event focused on promoting and discussing the various opportunities arising within Real Estate, aiming to benefit Mexico's economic growth and its positioning as one of the most attractive emerging economies for global investment.

The event featured key government figures such as Román Meyer Falcón, Secretary of Agrarian, Land, and Urban Development (SEDATU), and Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the Head of Government of Mexico City. The presentations over the two days highlighted the importance of planning, collaboration, and the close link between the public and private sectors for the sustainable and orderly development of the region's cities.

Jaime Fasja Amkie, president of the ADI, stated that "due to factors such as nearshoring, disciplined fiscal policies, and the good management of our country's debt, a situation is created that, if properly leveraged, could impact an additional 1/2 to 2 percent of Mexico's annual GDP growth."

Some of the indicators mentioned regarding this favorable context for Real Estate investments include:

  • The recovery of shopping centers, with a 14% increase in visitor flow nationwide compared to the same period in 2022.
  • The trend towards the conversion of corporate buildings into mixed-use programs, especially in areas such as Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara, and Puebla.
  • In the tourism sector, it is expected that nearly 40 million foreign tourists will arrive this year, which would mean a growth of up to 15% compared to last year.
  • The digitalization of all urban development and construction procedures promoted in the boroughs of CDMX, which will streamline processes and favor transparency.

During the closing ceremony, Jaime Fasja Amkie highlighted that "over the last 30 years, the ADI has been a driver of the country's development, with historical investments exceeding 267 billion dollars and has generated a virtuous circle by creating millions of jobs, positioning the sector as the second largest contributor to the national GDP."

From our Studio, we had the participation of our director and founder, Martin Gómez Platero, as well as Arianna Guerrero and Adriana Vargas, part of the Business Development team in Mexico. They engaged in various dynamics within the event and had firsthand conversations with the country's main Real Estate players.
