MARTÍN GÓMEZ PLATERO

Martín Gómez Platero is an architect, director and founder of Gómez Platero Architecture & Urbanism, a global architecture and urbanism practice with more than 20 years of international experience. The firm’s purpose is to improve quality of life on the planet through architecture and urban design.

He earned his Architecture degree from the Faculty of Architecture at the Universidad de la República (UDELAR), Uruguay, and completed a postgraduate programme in Business Administration at the University of California, Berkeley, graduating with distinction.

He is an International Associate of the AIA (The American Institute of Architects), the largest and most influential network of architects and design professionals, with more than 98,000 members committed to the highest standards of practice.

As a member of the Board of Endeavor Uruguay—an international organisation that supports high-impact entrepreneurs—he actively contributes to strategic definition and oversight that drive growth and innovation within the local entrepreneurial ecosystem.

He has participated in platforms for dissemination, reflection and debate on architecture and the city, sharing the studio’s experience in a range of professional and academic forums both regionally and internationally, as well as in initiatives linked to entrepreneurship and innovation.

From Gómez Platero Architecture & Urbanism—with headquarters in Uruguay and offices in Ecuador, Mexico and Colombia—he leads a team of more than 300 professionals that has designed over 4 million m² across 62 cities in 13 countries, playing a pioneering role in mixed-use design and delivering a wide variety of architectural programmes through an integrated approach.

His management style conveys a deep passion for architecture and is defined by anticipating clients’ needs, early adoption of innovation, design excellence, attention to detail and a strong focus on people’s experience. Under his leadership, the practice has delivered buildings enjoyed by more than 40 million people each year, with projects recognised in prestigious international awards including the World Architecture Festival (WAF), Future Houses, and honours from the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design, among others.
